It has been forever since Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachoy made things weird between each other. Then again, they didn’t exactly need help creating awkward moments recently.
Nick appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. He stumbled into a confession. Or maybe he just answered a question without filtering. Either way, he mentioned seeing his ex-wife fly first class while her children rode coach.
“A separate class of service,” he confirmed when asked directly.
It happened on a flight to Hawaii. They shared the air for six and a half hours. Well, “shared” is a loose word. He was in the front. She was there too. Her kids? Their estranged father Eric Johnson? They were all on board but in a completely different part of the plane.
Why do it like that?
Insiders say Jessica thinks this is normal. In fact, she’s done it often. An insider spoke to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack and painted a clear picture. Jessica isn’t trying to hide anything. She is actively raising her children differently than most Hollywood stars.
She grew up with empty pockets. Her family struggled. She remembers the lack of money vividly. That history shapes her choices today.
Luxury isn’t a birthright in the Simpson house. It’s a reward. Or something to be earned. She wants her kids—Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie—to understand what value looks like. Entitlement is not on the syllabus.
Isn’t it strange that a celebrity mom would prioritize lessons about money over comfort? Maybe. But to Jessica, it seems logical.
Nick Lachey has moved on too. Married to Vanessa. He has his own trio of kids: Camden, Brooklyn, and Phoenix. Life moves fast. You fly past your past sometimes.
Even if you have to sit in the back.
